But really, an honest person doesn’t return something in the hope of a reward, otherwise they could just keep it. Eve $100 makes it an expensive cab ride, and a penalty he shouldna had to pay. Besides, cab companies already rip people off. We all know that.

You return lost property because it’s the right thing to do, not because you expect to get a reward. If you lost something, would you want its return to depend on whether the person who found it thought you’d give them a big enough reward?

I used to work at a hotel. I found a guy’s toiletries bag in the hall one day. Inside was a good chunk of cash and a prescription drug bottle that identified the guy. I turned the bag, cash and all in to the front desk. He did not even thank me, much less give me a tip. If anything like that happens again and I have a good idea that it’s a rich man’s lucre… I’m keeping the dough.

Not sayin’ Quint is some billionaire, but that was a damn cheap shot.

OK, given that such an old instrument can’t be sold easily for it’s “worth” it is non the less a joke that this guy gave the taxi driver only $100!

If this guy had left it in germany the taxi driver had a lawful right to 3% = 120thousand!
