Taxi driver’s $4 million reward

p2pnet news | Cool Stuff:- A violinist who left a $4 million Stradivari in a taxi found a unique way of saying Thanks to the driver who returned it.
Philippe Quint left his 1723 Kiesewetter Stradivarius in the back of a New York cab on his way back from a performance in Texas.
And Mohamed Khalil returned it, earning himself and around 200 other cabbies a private 30-minute performance in the taxi waiting area at Newark Liberty International Airport, says the Chicago Sun Times, adding:
“Along with several solo pieces, Quint also teamed with guitarist Michael Bacon - brother of actor Kevin Bacon - on a blues number that had some people dancing on the blacktop.”
Khalil was also given $100 for his honesty.

Nice to know that there are some honest people left in the world.

“Khalil was also given $100 for his honesty.”
4 MIL worth and only 100 bucks?
OK, given that such an old instrument can’t be sold easily for it’s “worth” it is non the less a joke that this guy gave the taxi driver only $100!
If this guy had left it in germany the taxi driver had a lawful right to 3% = 120thousand!
“Finderlohn” for the win!

I guess that just shows how stupid Germany is.

I used to work at a hotel. I found a guy’s toiletries bag in the hall one day. Inside was a good chunk of cash and a prescription drug bottle that identified the guy. I turned the bag, cash and all in to the front desk. He did not even thank me, much less give me a tip. If anything like that happens again and I have a good idea that it’s a rich man’s lucre… I’m keeping the dough.
Not sayin’ Quint is some billionaire, but that was a damn cheap shot.

As Philippe Quint has the instrument on loan it is not his.
Quint does not have $4-million, he gave what he could (a performance and a very good tip)

$100 bucks??
should have given him a seasons tickets to a sport of his choosing or at least a 10 000 bucks.

People, you shouldn’t do something merely to get a reward, that’s just being stupid and selfish.

People, you shouldn’t give someone $100 and a song when they return a “left behind” item worth 4 million dollars, that’s just being stupid and selfish.

You return lost property because it’s the right thing to do, not because you expect to get a reward. If you lost something, would you want its return to depend on whether the person who found it thought you’d give them a big enough reward?

Calm down, folks. At least it was a violin that Khalil found. If he had found a stash of music CDs and turned them in the RIAA would sue him for risk of making them available from the moment he found them.

^ Yeah they would have him busted on suspicion of distributing online
But really, an honest person doesn’t return something in the hope of a reward, otherwise they could just keep it. Eve $100 makes it an expensive cab ride, and a penalty he shouldna had to pay. Besides, cab companies already rip people off. We all know that.
Still it was good to see, and there are literally millions of honest people

Come to think of it, if he had kept it, it woulda been traced anyway, and the driver woulda lost his job, never be able to drive taxis again, and been charged with grand theft
