RIAA lampoon art gallery

p2pnet news | P2P:- Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony BMG’s RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is one of the most infamous, hated and reviled organisations in the world, launching what has to be the most bizarre marketing campaign ever conceived by anyone, anywhere at any time.
Around 2002 its masters, who also hold rule over a coterie of similar so-called trade associations around the world, got it into their heads that if they were able to sue enough people —- it didn’t matter if they were, quite literally, dead or dying —- and generate sufficient actual and virtual ink claiming they were being “devastated” by file sharers, they’d corner the online market and control it in much the same way they do offline music sales.
They started implementing their plan in 2003, spending millions of dollars trying to convince the world they’re hard-done-by, honest companies whose only aim is to help the artists who work for them and serve their customers, but who are being besieged on all sides by criminals and thieves, as they call their own customers, including children.
They terrorise (word used advisedly) low income families, harass students across America using taxpayer funded school administrations and teaching staff as unpaid enforcers and extortionists, and generally behave like signed-up members of the Mafia.
And what have they achieved? Absolutely nothing.
File sharing has been on the rise since they launched their sue ‘em all marketing blitz in 2003 and continues unabated, RIAA claims to the contrary notwithstanding. But the damage the RIAA lawsuits have done to the organisation, their ’cause’ and to the Big 4 singly and collectively is incalculable.
But even this dark cloud has a silver lining, spawning an art form which is only now beginning to come into its own.
Judge-in-waiting-cum-RIAA-hitman
Two RIAA stories are currently holding sway. One involves the judge who presided at the only RIAA case to actually make its way to the courts. It involved Jammie Thomas who, after being wrongly convicted, was ordered to pay the labels ‘damages’ of close to a staggering quarter of a million dollars.
However, to his credit the judge, Michael Davis, has admitted to a ‘manifest error‘ with Thomas’ ex-lawyer Brian Toder and judge-in-waiting-cum-RIAA-hitman Richard Gabriel front and centre, to their shame. Davis will now almost certainly order a new trial.
The second case centres on Tanya Andersen, an Oregon mother who started out as an RIAA victim but who’s now completely turned the tables on them.
So what’s the art form? Lampoon illustrations targeting the RIAA.
The Simpsons pic in the upper right is by johnqpublic on dslreports. We switched the RIAA logo from johnq’s original —- hope he doesn’t mind
—- which appears in comment forums on the Tanya Andersen story.
The RIAA eagle immediately below it on the left, from R4M0N, is on the same forums.
Brilliant stuff, guys
With your permissions, both will appear in p2pnet RIAA stories from time to time.
The one on the immediate right is a p2pnet pic, and the one on the left is from an unknown source, so if it’s yours, please let us known —- unless you’d rather not ;p
Note the detail - the RIAA name is even on their helmets ; )
And the tough-looking guy with the shield and spear is another p2pnet pic adapted from an old World War II Nazi sturmabteilung (stormtrooper) poster.
And for those who don’t know, R4M0N’s eagle is also derived from WWII Nazi insignia.
Anyhow, if you’ve seen any more RIAA art in your travels, email us at p2pnet @ shaw dot ca. It’d be cool to have a gallery of this stuff.
And in case you’re thinking a gallery and the work in it would be a waste of time, as Stephen Jones once said:
“A walk down the path of history is crunchy with the crispy corpses of those who pooh-poohed or ignored the clown car of ridicule when it pulled-up to the curb.”
And isn’t it interesting how para-military groups and Nazis seem to be inspirational whenever the RIAA comes up.
Stay tuned

“And isn’t it interesting how para-military groups and Nazis seem to be inspirational whenever the RIAA comes up.”

We did not know who the neocon were.
The neocon are a pack of mean morons who think that the entire world is stupid but them.
This is their achievement so far:
1) Letting september 11 hapen.
2) Starting a War in Irak (Frankly sending an army to solve political issues is like using explosive to remove a screw!)
3) Wreaking the US economy to finance the Irak war so bad that the world migh go into depression.
4) The destruction of the music industry.
Yes! We did not know that all the majors labels and the RIAA/MPAA/ CRIA/BPI members were controled by neocon.
Now we do!
We now also know that they are working on their 5th goal: the destruction of internet.
Fortunatly we all know that this is impossible (Exept them!) and that even if it was, more robust alternatives are ready such as global wifi p2p network.

I think that the Nazi symbolism (nice Iron Eagle mod) will probably fly over the head of the average P2P user. Maybe the message is directed more at the RIAA themselves?
Since the record industry has traditionally been a predominantly Jewish business, what greater insult than to label them Nazis?

I agree, neocons suck, unfortunately regarding p2p there are many Democrats in the RIAA’s pockets as well. I don’t see much hope in a political solution, as the RIAA has truckloads of money it uses to buy politicians(and I would not doubt some judges too). The real solution is BOYCOTT!!! Don’t buy any of their products, and scream like hell in opposition to any “music tax” scam propositions which would invariably funnel unlimited cash to them while they continue to screw musicians.
