Anti-P2P Comcast invests in P2P video firm

p2pnet news | P2P:- Anti-P2P ISP Comcast, under federal investigation for throttling P2P users’ bandwidth, has, cynically, invested in a Seattle P2P company.

It’s working with GridNetworks which, “provides high-definition, full-screen video over the internet,” says the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The relationship is “”collaborative,” says the story, adding:

“Last October, GridNetworks said it raised $9.5 million in financing from investors including Cisco Systems Inc. and Panorama Capital.”

Interestingly, and ironically, one of the videos featured on GridNetworks’ demo page is Elephants Dream, billed as the world’s first open movie, made entirely with open source graphics.

Comcast Peon: “Maybe we should think about easing restrictions on video downloads as they are becoming common place.”
Comcast Manager: “We can’t possibly do that. Why should we let customers use their paid bandwidth when we can charge them twice?”

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Yes. This what these parasites at Comcast have in mind: Gouge the customer twice!
