Want to buy 46 Comcast cable systems?

p2pnet news | Products:- ‘For sale: 46 Cable Systems. Contact Comcast with best offer.’
Comcast is trying to sell 46 smaller cable systems serving 400,000 to 500,000 subscribers as it, “seeks to improve efficiency by shedding disparate operations,” says the Associated Press, quoting analyst Robert Serranoas saying, “It’s not about money at all.
“They are pruning some of the more outlying areas in order to make a more efficient cluster.”
Serrano said Comcast could get $3,000 to $4,500 per subscriber, “although sale prices would vary by asset”.
The company is currently in deep trouble with the FCC and users over its traffic throttling activities.
It says P2P file shares have compelled it to introduce ‘bandwidth management’ and as part if the solution to the problem it created, is generously offering to decide what rights and responsibilities surfers should have.
Meanwhile, the cable television industry is defending itself against a report showing prices consumers pay for cable TV have risen 77% since 1996, says United Press International, quoting the New York Times..
“That price spike is double the rate of inflation and came as the same U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed that cable viewers watch only 13 percent of average 118 channels of programming available to them,” says UPI, adding:
“The report also noted cable customers pay an average of $60 per month for the programming and that predicted competition from forms of new media, such as the Internet, music players and cell phones, has largely failed to materialize because of agreements between cable companies and Hollywood entertainment producers to sell channels only in bundles.”
The cable companies says Hollywood is forcing them to distribute programming that way, “because of demands for high licensing fees”.

Id love to buy a system!
First I would downsize the tv part.
maybe just deliver the locals and some choice satellite channels
But I would blow open the internet WIDE.
No Caps No Limits for upload or download.
and then only charge whatever it cost to keep the system running and a little extra to provide for myself.
that would be so cool.
