Laugh-In’s Dick Martin dies

p2pnet news | TV:- Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In co-host Dick Martin has died.
He was 86.
“He had had some pretty severe respiratory problems for many years, and he had pretty much stopped breathing a week ago,” E! Online has Martin family spokesman Barry Greenberg saying.
For, “millions of middle-class Americans, outside the urban and cultural centers, LAUGH-IN was the means by which they came to assimilate and accept the mindset of the 1960s,” says the San Francisco Chronicle.
“Watching the DVDs today, it’s almost inconceivable, but in 1968 and 1969, there was nothing funnier on earth. The show was on Monday nights at 8 o’clock, and for that hour, the world stopped. The humor was like nothing people had seen - it was anarchic, absurdist and like a missive from the world of coolness and wisdom. But mainly it was funny and seemed True, as though partaking of deeper truths, and it came in a form that everyone could receive it.”
