Sydney Pollack dies of cancer

p2pnet news | Movies:- Director/actor Sydney Pollack has died at the age of 73.
He’d been diagnosed with cancer nine months ago.
“At the time of the diagnosis, he was directing the HBO movie ‘Recount,’ but left the project to seek medical treatment,” says Reuters.
“The political drama about the controversial Florida presidential vote in 2000 premiered on the cable network on Sunday,” it says.
“Pollack’s final directing efforts were the 2005 thriller ‘The Interpreter,’ starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, and the 2006 documentary ‘Sketches of Frank Gehry,’ about the famed architect.
Out of Africa, the 1985 drama, earned Pollack two Academy Awards as director and as producer of the film, which won the best picture Oscar, says the Los Angeles Times, adding:
“Mr. Pollack also received a best director Oscar nomination for ‘Tootsie.’ In the 1982 comedy, Dustin Hoffman stars as Michael Dorsey, an unemployed New York actor who revives his career by transforming himself into a ‘woman’.”
