Dr Paul McCartney, Yale 08

p2pnet news | Music:- Yale University’s commencement day was also famous Brits day.
Ex-UK prime minister Tony Blair addressed the Yale College Class of 2008 of saying, “So: after over 100 years of Class Days, finally you get a British speaker.
“What took you so long? Did that little disagreement of 1776 really rankle so much? And why now? Is it because British election campaigns only last four weeks?”
And Paul McCartney received an honorary Doctor of Music degree.
“A band played Beatles classic Hey Jude as Sir Paul, 65, walked on stage to accept his degree,” says the BBC.
And, “From the energy of I Want to Hold Your Hand to the melancholy of Yesterday, to the spirituality of Let It Be, you have played every chord, touched every emotion,” gushed Yale president, Richard Levin.
Blair also found an opportunity to mention McCartney.
“Sir Paul McCartney reminded me that the first record company the Beatles approached rejected them as a band no-one would want to listen to,” he said, adding:
“Be good to people on your way up because you never know if you will meet them again on your way down.”
McCartney apparently didn’t have anything to say.
