Hmmm…the Million Man March comes to mind, as well as countless Vietnam demonstrations in the US in the 70’s. Rather a bit over the top to claim that they never work.

Rallies do work (if peaceful) take the 20,000(even more in london but cant remember amount) in Birmingham who turned up to the “drop the debt campaign” in the uk when politicians look out the window or on tv and they see a sea of people they get worried about reelection.

What did rallies ever do except get people arrested and make more people aware by giving negative attention? Politicians do not bow to this kind of pressure nor are influenced by it. All they see is an unruly mob, and become even more obstinate in their stance. Making more people aware does not change laws. It’s the politicians and lawmakers who decide, and not based on public sentiment. This doesn’t help them decide. It’s all relative and temporary anyway.
