Craigslist ad: Baby for sale — $10K
p2pnet news | Off Topic:-You’ll find a lot of unusual items on Craigslist.
But a seven-day-old baby?
“A new baby girl … healthy and very cute,” read the ad. “Can’t afford and unexpected.
“Looking for a good home. Please call ASAP.”
That’s what Vancouver, BC, resident Marilyn Bateman saw, says the Vancouver Sun.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the story has her saying.
“I was shaking. I thought, ‘This doesn’t happen in Canada’.”
She called the authorities, and later Vancouver police arrested a couple, “but released them after they claimed the ad was a hoax,” says the story, quoting Vancouver police constable Tim Fanning as saying 10 police officers worked on the case, tracking the Craigslist posting to a West End apartment.
“Police knocked at the door and asked if there was a baby in the apartment,” he said at a news conference.
There, the 23-year-old mother, “was found breastfeeding a seven-day-old baby in a bedroom. The baby’s 26-year-old father was among the four adults in the apartment, he added.
Adds the Vancouver Sun:
“Police sent a report to Crown prosecutors recommending a charge of public mischief, but the Crown said there was not enough evidence to support the charge, Fanning said.
“The couple had drug addiction problems in the past.”

I only heard this second-hand, but I was once told that the very cute teenage girl who used to babysit me, ended up getting pregnant, having the baby and then walked into a bar and tried to sell it. I often wonder what happened to her…

Once one of my sister’s sexy teenage friends got pregnant at a sleepover at our place. I don’t know how it happened either. I also only heard about this through a third party.

Of course they’d tell the police it was a hoax. What else would they say? And why would they perpetrate such a hoax if they really loved the child? I’d keep an eye on that lot.

The fact that they’re drug addicts lends credibility to it not being a hoax. They do anything for cash and have no natural affection.
