This article does make some valid points. I find traditional reading improves my spoken language. Reading on the internet can and does however improve my written vocabulary and grammar; the reason for this is that I can instantaneously look up unfamiliar words, which with traditional media is more time consuming (id est, paper dictionaries). Grammar is improved and solidified by correcting written errors, which forces us to analyse the syntax and semantics of particular statements. Grammatical errors are less frequent in printed media than the internet in general.

To Anon above me: He's not blaming his stupidity on the internet. He's just saying that he might have found that reading on the internet is vastly different then reading a book in terms of credibility, length, and style.

Someone wants to blame his stupidity on the internet. We've all got to have a scape-goat I suppose.
