Movies.com goes to Comcast’s Fandango

p2pnet news | Advertising:- The Walt Disney company says it’s sold movies.com to Comcast’s Fandango.com.
“It’s all about location, location, location,” says the Los Angeles Times, going on:
“Fandango hopes the acquisition of Movies.com, with its generic name, will give it broader reach for people seeking movie information online.”
They, “feel it will expand on the advertising already taking place in movie theaters, studios and other marketers,” it says.
Movies.com had 1.9 million, adds the story, and, “Another 1.9 million fresh visitors per month would be a welcome addition to Fandango’s own 6.3 million monthly visitors, if they all stay around,” reckons the Motley Fool.
But, “I suspect that only the casual visitors, those who never signed up for an account but used the publicly available parts of the site for free, will hang around for long,” it says.
“There’s a plethora of movie information resources online, from generally trusted information sources like Amazon.com’s IMDb, or Time Warner’s Moviefone.
“Even utterly casual surfers who simply type ‘movies’ into their search box will encounter a Googlish movie information box before getting to the top search result - which is Movies.com.
“Yeah, Yahoo! and Microsoft do it, too.”
There was no mention of price.
