iPhone: $215 in Japan
p2pnet news | Mobiles:- Japan’s third largest mobile phone company, Softbank, says it’ll sell the 3G Apple iPhone for about $215 when it goes on to the shelves later this summer.
“Monthly fees for iPhone users would be 7,200 yen, which would include unlimited data-transmission, as long as a user’s plan included free Softbank-to-Softbank subscriber calling most of the day,” continues Reuters.
An entry-level version with 8 gigs of memory will cost 23,040 yen, “while a higher-end model with twice the memory will cost 34,560 yen,” says the story, adding:
“Users can pay for the device over the course of two years.”

“âUsers can pay for the device over the course of two years.â
Finance your fone.”(sic)
Actually this has been pretty common practice, here in Japan for the last few years. In fact, it is getting hard to pay for the phone in full at the beginning.
Just my two cents
