iTunes Europe: on the way

p2pnet.net News:- Praying, no doubt, for the same kind of awesomely fulsome coverage the mainstream media accorded Napster II when it ‘launched’ in the UK, recently, Apple Europe plans to present a music extravaganza in London on June 15 to celebrate iTune’s imminent arrival in Britain.

And to increase its chanced of getting it, Apple is "inviting selected members of the press to the event in London," says Macworld here.

This is not good news for Napster II.

Apple’s arrival will mean the sad little Roxio moggie will not only be up against the usual suspects - grossly overpriced Big Music product, tiny and extremely boring Big Music catalogues and the increasing popularity of the non-music industry indie sites - it will soon have to contend with Apple’s undeniably loyal user bases.

And we haven’t even mentioned the Microsoft/Peter Gabriel OD2 which has already virtually made Europe its own when it comes to corporate music downloads.

"At this stage it appears possible Apple will launch its service with an offering of around 700,000 tracks," says Macworld. "Napster today announced itself to be offering that number through its service, while Sony Connect will launch with a smaller catalogue here, reports claim.

"Pricing for Apple’s service is likely to be within the £0.89-£1.09 per track charged by the other digital music distribution services that exist here. Apple has neither confirmed nor denied this assumption."

And starting this month, buyers of China’s Founder PCs will find Apple iTunes pre-installed on their systems - whether they want it or not.

what are you talking about? itunes is GREAT !!! So is Napster. And Wal-Mart’s thing. And, um, what’s another? hehehehe

  3. Reader's Write Says:

iTunes is great if you want to throw away your money. Why would anyone pay $0.99 for a song that is infested with Digital Rights Management (DRM)?

  4. Reader's Write Says:

    so what to use then?
