Hey here's a novel idea. How about realizing that we don't need to buy into all the hype and as long as we can actually send and recieve a call on the cell phone we currently have, that will do nicely thank you very much. Chances are you haven't even begun to dent the 80 gig Ipod you bought two years ago and I'm sure it works just fine. The cure for the need to have woes is called contentment. Something
this textmessage crazy technojunkie generation has a hard time understanding. An Iphone is overpriced and overated. Its a toy.

I work in cellular phones, and rogers is a HUGE Rip off with the Iphone, apple has limtied supplies because of this, apple stores will NOT be receiving the iphone 3G. if anyone has been listing about Spectrum that was being bid on, in the next 5 yrs a new cellular company will be emerging in Canada, DON"T lock into a Iphone 3 yr contract, its a HUGE Rip wait till rogers get some competition, since they are the only GSM providers(they own Fido too) they have nothing to compete against so if people really want it, they have to go with rogers, thats all there is to is. Honestly, if you have waited this long for an iphone, you can wait till prices come down.

ROGERS DOES IT... AGAIN!

Looks like www.ruinediphone.com is no longer accessible. Seems Rogers, along with RAPING it's customers, has decided that it won't tolerate voices of dissension or criticisms either.

I know "Robbers" operates like a communist monopoly but limiting our right to "free speech" is over the top!

What a lot of telus or non iPhone users do not get is that the usage varies with the capability. Or the iPhone is THE MOST CAPABLE BROWSING PHONE IN EXISTENCE. It is soo good, its browser so efficient, that surfing your phone, as opposed to turning your laptop on so often, becomes SECOND NATURE.

Lemme see, goals, NHL highlights, Stocks, weather, headline news, all these are piece of cake on the safari browser. So 400 MB will dissapear fast. true, my older phone, I barely used 10 MB lifetime. BUT, it never was a3G or WIFI phone, and man, there were times I really needed the net.

So it's like my arguing that, once you get a Ferari or Porche, you invariably end up throttling the RPM. But with a Lada you couldnever do that to begin with.

I would like to know what the average data is someone would use on the iPhone or other phones as well. Last month I used 50mb of data with Telus. And that is just a few times a day going on msn, a few forums and random searches of google, and the occasional download of a song. I dont see the need to constantly surf the net on an iPhone unless you dont have a laptop.

You are not just buying apple you are buying a rich stereotype

I did some quick calculations when I read their pricing. These include all system access fees and taxes to give the real monthly costs.
The absolute minimum that you will pay a month is $70.82. (does not include things like caller id)
If you use 10GB of data a month you will pay a monthly fee of $417.23. (again does not include any niceties like caller id).

I love it when some one puts a cap on "unlimited" plans.

When I did these calculations it made my mind up. I won't be getting an iPhone for the time being. (even though I've wanted one for the last year.)
Both Apple and Rogers will be missing some of my money. I'm sure they don't care about just one person, but I know at least one other person that has wanted an iPhone for a year, but these pricing plans have also made him decide not to get one.
Maybe when we get some more competition in the country I will consider it again.

Im on Telus and have a pocketpc My data plan use to be 25$ for 4mb and 10$ for each mb after. Needless to say I didnt use it that much. But a few months ago they changed it to 30$ for unlimited usage. No cap. But after a while there isnt a real need to use it to surf the net. Last month I only used 50MB worth. I would wonder if they have a couple months free usage so people can judge on how much they use it so they can better choose waht plan. People getting pissed off about getting locked into a 3 year contract shouldnt really care to much. Most people are gonna stick with the same provider anyways. Ive been with Telus for 7 years.

I dont have any plan on getting the iPhone. Im happy with my pocketpc and the thousands of windows mobile aps that can go on it.

Hey, just a small and largely insignificant correction: The lowest-priced iPhone plan comes with 150 "weekday" minutes, not 100.
However it should also be pointed out that this plan comes with a grand total of 75 text messages, and even those are a "bonus".

What Rogers wants you to do is buy the phone, probably the second-lowest plan package and then one of the two iPhone "Value Packs".
The iPhone "Value Packs" come with Call Display (you don't get this by default) and 2500 or 10000 additional text messages.
Also, evenings start at 9PM in Canada (probably because we're so close to the north pole we usually have 6 months of day and 6 months of night ;-) but if you go for the $20 "Value Pack" your evenings can start at a more probable 6PM.

Oh, and data overage (which everyone will run into with these plans; that's the point, see?) runs 50 cents per MB for the first 60MB (that's $30) and 3 cents per MB thereafter. So if your combined download and upload exceeds 460 on the "cheap" plan your monthly cost rises to $90, plus system access, plus 911, plus taxes, plus extra text messages (15 cents each) plus extra minutes (35 cents each)... The cheap plan will cost you well over $115 per month if you're not careful.

F*CK YOU ROGERS!

http://www.fuckyourogers.com/

Everyone would like to say "F*CK YOU" to Rogers/Fido for screwing our iPhone Canadian dream with poor data/voice plans. If you consider these plans not suitable, please sign this petition. On July 11th 2008, we will send a printed copy of all these messages to Rogers HQ to demonstrate our indignation toward them. We would like to say "Thank You, You" for signing this petition and helping the iPhone cause in Canada.
