p2pnet.net News:- As China takes extreme measures to control the the country’s Net cafes and introduces censorship to computer games and digital movies, its CCW Research is reporting almost half of Beijing’s householders are online.
CWW says 47% of of Beijing’s three million homes were hooked up to the Net by the end of March this year and that 62% of the families in eight downtown districts were online, “about three times the 21.9% found in the rural part of Beijing,” says ChinaTechNews here.
Broadband Internet access dominated the market in Beijing with 63.8% of Beijing’s homes going online.
The city has a population of about 11 million, says ChinaTechNews, adding that according to the latest census conducted three years ago, there were 10 million broadband Internet subscribers in China by the end of 2003, “and the figure is expected to rise to 60 million ones by 2007, according to the survey”.
