Vivendi Games grabs Activision

p2pnet news | Games:- Activision shareholders Tuesday are today expected to approve a merger with Blizzard parent Vivendi Games, ” that will allow the deal to close within days and create a new top dog in the fast-growing video gaming world,” says the Hollywood Reporter.
The new company will be called Activision Blizzard.
Vivendi is already Top Dog among the Big 4 record labels who are trying to sue music lovers into becoming compliant consumers of corporate ‘product’.
Now, “Activision Blizzard is positioned to ensure that growth as it brings together some of the hottest gaming franchises, such as Vivendi’s massively multiplayer online juggernaut ‘World of Warcraft’ and Activision’s ‘Guitar Hero’,” says the story, going on:
“Analysts say it also allows the respected Activision sales and marketing machine to tap into Asia, where Vivendi already has a presence, and potentially take the new partner’s product, like the Bourne franchise, to new heights.”
Earlier in the year, the Wayne County Employees’ Retirement Systems investor group filed suit against Activision over the proposed $18.9 billion merger between Activision and Blizzard parent Vivendi Games, “accusing Activision of placing its investors in an unfavorable minority position,” says Next Generation.
Vivendi will control 52% of Activision Blizzard.

Before long, Activision and EA will be the only game publishers left. I still remember the days when each company had their own “flavor” and you could easily tell the games of one company apart from the games of others. Now it’s all just one big mish-mash and the brand name means nothing anymore.
