Sony promises PS3 v2.41 update, ’shortly’

p2pnet news view | Games:- “We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience.”
That’s Eric Lempel on the PlayStation blog.
Last time around, “We’ve received a limited number of calls from consumers experiencing an issue with installing the system software update on their PS3,” posted Patrick Seybold, also on the PlayStation blog.
Seybold failed to state how many calls “limited” means, but said there were enough to encourage Sony to “temporarily” take Firmware v2.40 offline, p2pnet noted.
Now, “As many of you know, we released PS3 firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn’t display after the update was installed,” states Lempel, once again carefully not saying exactly how many ‘limited’ means.
But, “We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly,” he says optimistically.
In the meanwhile …………. ?

Well you are a bit late with this one as 2.41 is out and on my ps3 2 days ago. (Europe)
Microsoft can take weeks/months to release patches so when a company dose it in under 48 hours they go in my good books.
Oh of cause one should not confuse the Evil sony music arm with the playstation arm.

Of course, the first PlayStation was made because Sony felt shafted by Nintendo when they wanted to go with a different CD system for their games (Philips CD-I, and look how badly that turned out), and Sony wanted to emulate the success of the Game Boy (which sounds like Walk Man, and don’t think they didn’t know it sounded like a Sony product!) and thus break into the business in the first place.
In other words, greed.
Still “not” evil?
