Paul McCartney addresses ‘Quebeckians’
p2pnet news view Politics | Music:- Give peace a chance, says Beatle Paul McCartney, echoing the theme originally started by John Lennon.
He was referring to the furor opened by Quebec extremists on the news that McCartney is one of the artists performing at Quebec city’s 400th anniversary scheduled to be staged on the Plains of Abraham, scene of the battle between began on September 12, 1759 between the British Army and Navy, and the French Army just outside the walls of Quebec City.
A “few dozen separatists, including two Parti Québécois front- benchers, Pierre Curzi and Daniel Turp,” have, “worked themselves into a froth of indignation over the former Beatle’s big show,” says a Montreal Gazette editorial.
Nor is the first time McCartney has sparked a political row in Canada.
In 2006, he, “touched off a minor storm in Atlantic Canada with his vocal opposition to the seal hunt,” says the Toronto Star, going on, “McCartney’s visit included trading barbs on CNN with Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams.”
This time around, Quebec sculptor Luc Archambault had, “issued an open letter denouncing McCartney’s arrival because the star is British,” says the story, going on the letter was co-signed by several “high-profile artists and a handful of Parti Québécois legislators”.
McCartney, “rejected criticism that his concert is an affront to Quebec’s francophone culture,” says the story, quoting him as saying:
“I’m very friendly with the French people that I know, I’m friendly with people of all nationalities. I’m friendly with German people, but by … (Archambault’s) argument I should never go to Germany again” because of World War II.
Now he’s telling Quebeckians, as he quaintly calls the people who live in La Belle Province, he wants to give them the, “best night in their lives,” according to the Gazette.
Meanwhile, “The only thing being tarnished here is the image of the PQ and the sovereignist movement when prominent figures in its ranks indulge in such ludicrous displays of nationalist pique,” it says, adding:
“Curzi and Turp really should know better than to stoop to this. They’re making it bad, mostly for themselves.”

Cultural racism rears its ugly head; and what a surprise, it’s the french wannabes. The french have always traditionally been envious of the cultural and linguistic dominance of English, and here it spills over. Inelegant, petty, unsophisticated, barbaric, rude, innately arrogant and pretentious. These qualities most aptly describe the french (and unfortunately, quebeckians also). Steadfast cultural envy is becoming their infamy. Alas, this only begets a surfeit of gloomy lamentation. Accepting your inferior position in cultural and linguistic matters shall end this interminable jealousy and antipathy toward the English.
Jingoes usually suffer from an inferiority complex. In fact, the french are very similar to the welsh in this subject.

I’ve always thought these Quebec sovereigntists to be rather uppity. They should be kissing English ass on the Plains of Abraham, considering they were defeated in WAR and CONQUERED by the English. Why the victor was so benevolent thereafter is beyond reckoning.

You’re right guys, we french people should simply bend over and let you all fuck us up the asshole without saying a word..
oh.. that and also let our culture die..

and one more thing, I didn’t care about Paul’s concert in Quebec city, but your barbaric comments makes me understand why all the races in the world will never get along.
War until there is only one left,… and it might be the chinese. Prepare to bend over too.

Reader’s Write, your inelegant, petty, unsophisticated, barbaric, rude, innately arrogant and pretentious level of racist comments and double standard are not doing anything good to this world.
