Forgot to mention, if it sold a million CDs, it would likely sell millions in the aforementioned manner. Even at only $1 an album, you can see the potential. On the other hand you can get a label to sell at $20+ each and you end up with nothing. Your choice.

It's very simple Lyle, whoever you are; you set up a Web site offering your albums for download sale at whatever price people are willing to pay, with a minimum set. I won't tell you what that should be, but remember, if it's too high for what it is, people won't bite. You can offer free samples so people will know what to expect. Not just 1 or 2 tho, as that implies the rest is filler. You can use the direct debit pay system, for which bank cards are now available, and which I believe is a far better system than others.

Wikipedia says that in 2002 "Lovett was caught by a bull and rammed into a fence".

Was the bull a publisher, the record company, RIAA, SoundExchange the music industry?

Maybe they can't find him either.

The bulls should be identified with names.

well, in experiments those rats are staying on the palte that shocks their feet non the less, even when they could escape the shock somehow.
But if the experimenters change the setup that will confuse the rat, suddenly the rat will do nothing to get away from it.
The pro's called that "learned helplessness" and obviously thise Artist suffers from that psychological condition too!

But with the right training (give him more and harder shocks and at the same time actually place him into a save environment for reconvalescense) he might be able to "relearn" the state of mind where he jumps on his own once the shocking sets in in cage A.

“Certainly if a major label is interested in working with me after these next two records and is able to come up with a strategy that does engage some of the new technology in a way that can benefit everybody, I’d be very interested in that,”

"Mice were wounded by spines, but continued to eat cactuses." (Russian Fidonet quote)
