lol … Yes nothing like giving something a new name to spin it as a new product. Progress by fiat! (that’s the declaration, not the car)

A decent analogy would be calling them “Cars 2.0″ simply because of the change from carbies, vents and cassette radios to injection, aircon, dvd, satnav and parking assist.

This is advice on how to be trendy, look good in the cafe crowd and be a real social networker. It’s not advice for a person considering a serious IT career. Or did I miss the well hidden parody?

The giveaway is the Web2.0 thing. Anyone who still thinks the Emporer’s New Clothes is an actual industry is wasting our time in the most obvious way.

“Pity the poor IT managers”

You mean pity the programmers who have to all the grunt work; designing, implementing, testing, debugging, etc. Then having to deal with clients, take a failing when something goes wrong (don’t programmers always get the blame ), and often then providing after service support in some form. I pity the programmers, and I know because I’m one of them. Managers? a dime a dozen and rarely do anything productive. They need to know cobol and ajax do they? I have yet to meet an IT manager who knows anything technically beyond an email client and project manager software. Sorry, but these are the cold hard facts.
