Facebook yanks Shank
p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- You used to be able to use a knife on people on Facebook.
And we’re not talking about the site’s propensity to stab its users in the back by making their data available to advertisers by one surreptitious means or another.
You could do it very simply. With Shank.
” … to shank…duh…well to hit someone with a homemade knife,” says the urban dictionary.
“The virtual ’shank’ appears as an icon within the Facebook Superpoke! application,” explains The Guardian.
“Superpoke! allows users to send virtual actions to other users such as smile, wink, take part in the Tour de France or send a bouquet.”
But, “Why the hell would a social networking site for teenagers put something like this forward?” – demanded John Knox, uncle of the murdered Harry Potter actor Rob Knox in The Sun.
“If the authorities really want to get tough on knife crime, the CEO or directors of Facebook should be arrested for inciting violence,” he went on.
That didn’t happen. But Facebook has pulled Shank, the work of American company Slide.com.
