More problems with Mobile Me

p2pnet news view | Mobiles:- Steve Jobs has admitted his Mobile Me, the Apple paid Net service which was supposed to, “synchronise appointments, addresses and email with Windows PCs, Macs, iPhones and the iPod touch instantly,” was indeed too “pushy”.

Apple was forced to apologise to users for using ‘push’ in describing the MobileMe service, “resulting in the impression that near instant data synchronisation could be expected at product launch time,” said Heise Online at the time.

Now, in an internal email, Jobs  confesses MobileMe was “not up to Apple’s standards.”

“The e-mail … acknowledges MobileMe’s flaws and what could have been done to better handle the launch,” says Ars Technica, adding:

“In addition to needing more time and testing, Jobs believes that Apple should have rolled MobileMe’s services out slowly instead of launching it ‘as a monolithic service.’ For example, over-the-air iPhone syncing could have gone up initially, then web apps one by one (Mail, Calendar, etc.).

Apple had to set up a dedicated chat-line to help people troubled by imMobileMe. It’s for, “any MobileMe members experiencing problems with their email service”.

Anyhow, that takes care of things. Right?

Well ………

“Yesterday (Monday) morning a syncing bug was discovered which caused contact and calendar data to not sync properly over-the-air with iPhones and iPod touch,” admitted Apple in its imMobileMe blog, adding:

“For some users this caused their contact and calendar data to disappear from their devices, but not from their computers or the MobileMe cloud. When we fixed the bug in the late afternoon, the problem resolved itself for most users: their data simply reappeared on their iPhone or iPod Touch. If you are one of those affected users and your data has [sic] not automatically reappeared, follow the steps at this link to restore your data.”

Stay tuned. But not with Mobile Me.  ;)
