Iggy Pop and the Stooges gear nicked in Montreal
p2pnet news view | Music:- Iggy Pop and the Stooges was all set to hit the road after concert in Montreal, Canada, when the band discovered a truck holding its instruments and stage gear worth hundreds of thousands of dollars had been stolen.
The missing vehicle is a 15-foot yellow Penske rental, US (Michigan) license plate number AC46493.
It was parked immediately outside the hotel where the band was playing and the theft had to have happened in the morning, between 6:30 and :30 am, says road manager Eric Fischer.
The band is in the middle of a Europe and North America tour and for a while, it looked as if its Toronto performance, slated for today, might be held up.
But no worries.
The Stooges were able to borrow enough equipment to make sure the show will go on.
“The truck holding the equipment was stolen from outside the hotel where the band was staying on Monday following a concert the night before,” says the CBC, adding the missing items include ‘priceless’ vintage instruments such as bassist Mike Watt’s Gibson guitar (right), which he’s used since he played with the Minutemen in the early 1980s.
“That bass would go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame some day if we could find it,” Eric Fischer is quoted as saying.
“We’re all just gutted.”
