There’s an (Apple) sucker born every minute
p2pnet news view | Cool Stuff:- This definitely comes under the Jeez —- wish I’d thought of it heading.
It is written: Macolytes will buy anything Apple comes up with, no matter how much it costs.
Look at iTunes, for example.
So German developer Armin Heinrich decided it was time to cash in on the phenomenon.
To digress, if you’ve been aropund the net for a while you’ll have seen various totally useless applications such as the Big Red Buttons which came out with loud farts or belches when you pressed them.
They didn’t do anything else.
Well, Heinrich took the idea a rewarding stage further.
His ‘I Am Rich’ button sold for $999.99 (or €799,99 for European suckers) on the iPhone App Store.
And it did absolutely nothing except glow nicely on the touch pad.
But, “after just one day and a flurry of blog posts and complaints to Apple, the application … was pulled from the online Apple Store,” says Times Online, adding:
“An Apple spokeswoman confirmed the ‘I Am Rich’ icon had been briefly available on the site but refused to give any further details, merely saying: ‘We do not comment on applications or the relationship between Apple and developers’.”

I’ve seen a lot about this all over the place… don’t quite understand why it was pulled… apparently Heinrich was quite clear in saying that it didn’t do anything, so it’s not false advertising or anything…

I can see rich trendy a-holes buying this app so they can walk around “looking rich” with their 1k iPhone.
If the designer had mentioned the proceeds would be donated to charity, they might not have pulled it off iTunes.
