Dreaded Windows BSOD strikes Olympics
p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- The dreaded Microsoft blue screen of death is well known to anyone who’s spent any time with Windows.
It comes up during a critical computer error, causing a total shut-down.
But, numerous bloggers also saw it displayed on the roof of China’s National Stadium during the Beijing Olympics.
Windows XP —- NOT Vista —- is the offocial O/S for the games.
The BSOD flashed as veteran Chinese gymnast Li Ning, suspended 70 metres above the stadium floor, “jogged” towards the Olympic torch,” says the Sydney Morning Herald.
Interestingly, Bill Gates, “has been spotted at several Olympic events, accompanied by his wife and is here is a private capacity,” notes the story.
But it doesn’t say if he was present during the unlucky Blue Screen of Death Olympics faux pas.
Nor is this the first time people in China have experienced it, but last time around, Symantec’s AntiVirus software was responsible.
Millions of Chinese computer users were hit recently during an error in the update of Norton’s virus database, said China state news agency Xinhua.
It declared the crashes a, “heavy blow to people`s daily work and ongoing business”.

There’s no way that was XP. I have never seen a BSOD from XP. I’m not even convinced it *can* go to a BSOD.
