Gary McKinnon wins two-week stay
p2pnet news view | Freedom:- Gary McKinnon has won a two-week stay on his extradition to the US.
He’s accused of years ago penetrating 97 US military systems from his bedroom in North London, “crashing the US Army’s Washington network of 2,000 computers for 24 hours,” said The Times Online.
He lost his House of Lords appeal against the extradition last month, but appealed to the European court of human rights, which granted the extension.
Dubbed “the world’s most dangerous hacker” by the US, McKinnon says when he hacked the US computers, he waslooking for evidence of a UFO cover-up.
He faces up to 70 years in prison and his solicitors say he could even be given “enemy combatant” status, the same as that applied to terrorist suspects held at Guantánamo Bay, says The Guardian.
A brief statement says he’s won “interim relief” so his application can be heard before the full Presidents of the European Court Human Rights chamber, on August 28, says the Free Gary McKinnon site.

Gitmo is just a prison camp?? Straight up and no BS there? I do agree that he should face charges for the crime commited but to recieve enemy combatant status is a bit thick.
