John McCain in copyright trouble. Again.

p2pnet news view | Music:- US presidential candidate John McCain apparently believes he doesn’t have to answer to the RIAA.

McCain seriously upset Paris Hilton by comparing Barak Obama to her (and to Britney Spears).

But no worries because all that happened was Paris produced a hilarious spoof that’s been viewed to millions of times and is still going strong. It must be doing wonders for McCain’s image.

Now Jackson Browne is suing him for copyright infringement and as the world knows, Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony BMG’s RIAA  is completely impartial when it comes to suing people for copyright infringement.

Doesn’t matter who they are —- unless they’re Warner boss Edgar Bronfman jr’s children, of course. They get off with a lecture on bright lines.

Anyway, it seems McCain is a rebel. He’s already incurred the wrath of, appropriately, Warner by improperly using the company’s Frankie Valli hit, Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You, in a campaign ad.

Now Jackson Browne is suing McCain for using Browne’s 1978 ‘Running on Empty’ in an anti Barak Barack Obama TV ad.

Says the Washington Post, quoting the Los Angeles Times »»»

Yesterday, Browne, 59, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against McCain and the Republican National Committee in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeking a permanent injunction prohibiting the use of the song, or any of his other compositions, as well as damages.

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers told the Times that the campaign did not sponsor or produce the ad.

But “We have sued the Ohio Republican Party as well, and we have been informed and believe that McCain and his campaign were well aware of the ad,” the story has Browne’s attorney, Lawrence Y. Iser, stating unequivocally.

We’re quite sure McCain will soon be hearing from the RIAA ((Recording Industry Association of America).

Unless Mr Bronfman intercedes with a stern talk to McCain, of course.

No need to stay tuned.

Should read .. Don’t ya know the Wealthy are above the law.

    Money knows no political affiliation.
Wealth, and it’s acquisition at all costs, is the problem,
    not Democrats, or Republicans.

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Don’t forget that they let off the daughters of U.S. Presidents as well :)

  4. hahaha Says:

And they also let off US Presidents (Clinton) and their wives (Hillary). And said President pardons all sorts of people in the last hour of his presidency.

Hippie was exactly right: it’s about money.
