Starz, Real movie service
p2pnet.net News:- As of today, Starz and RealNetworks are offering a subscription with unlimited online access to a rotating library of movies for $13 per month.
Movies will take from 20 minutes to download, depending on the speed of the subscriber’s broadband service, say the companies.
“Movielink has around 500 films on its lists, whereas the Starz Real Networks service is to be structured so that only 100 films are available each month for a flat subscription fee,” says Faultline’s Peter White.
“Chances are many of them will be similar month to month, resulting in little more than the pay per view services available on cable. Still, at least the price is cheap.”
The service is available in the US to broadband users with minimum connection speeds of 600 Kbps.
Movies are delivered on RealPlayer 10 technology and,m “Content is protected with Real’s Helix Digital Rights Management to give customers seamless access to their video selections while protecting the rights of content owners”.
RealNetworks recently announced it has patched two ‘highly critical‘ holes in its media player that “could allow an attacker to run malicious code by directing users to a specially-crafted Web page, via an email message for example”.
