RIAA puts the mockers on Muxtape
p2pnet news view Music | RIAA News:- “Muxtape will be unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA.”
What’s that all about?
Well, it’s obvious.
Muxtape has a problem with Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony BMG’s RIAA.
So? Doesn’t everyone?
Except Vivendi Universal (France), Sony BMG (Japan and Germany), EMI (Britain), and Warner Music (US), of course.
Muxtape is/was a, “free streaming music website that allows users to create their own 12-song mixtapes,” says The Rap Up, going on »»»
Hordes of music lovers flooded the site with compilations that included copyrighted music. Even Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes got in on the fun. The only thing left of the site now is a message simply stating, “Muxtape will be unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA.”
There’s no word on how long the shutdown is expected to last, but the Muxtape blog has a status update on the issue: “No artists or labels have complained. The site is not closed indefinitely.”
So, here’s the deal: If you’ve been uploading some major label music to Muxtape’s servers, you might want to start making travel arrangements to Anguilla while you still have a chance. Either that or you could find someone to sneak you into Harvard ASAP.
Stay tuned.
