Doesn’t CanWest Global like RIM?
p2pnet news view | Advertising:- What’s with Ford? Doesn’t it like RIM?
Or, rather, what’s with the people who book online advertising with Ford as the focal point?
“Unless you really do believe any publicity is good publicity, America’s ‘all-new 2009 Lincoln MKS’ has found a great way to turn people off,” said p2pnet on Tuesday, going on:
“We were checking out online reports for p2pnet stories when he landed on The National Post’s FT trading desk to see what it had to say about Research In Motion’s progress, RIM being the maker of Canada’s massively successful Blackberry.”
“On the right is what we saw bang smack in the middle of the intro.”
Exactly the same thing happened today when we were going through reports on the release of the Blackberry Bold. Except this time, it was the Calgary Herald.
The Ford Edge was the vehicle involved (the Lincoln ad we saw on the FT item is on the bottom left).
Admittedly, the ad shows only when your mouse cursor moves over it. But it’s jammed right alongside the copy. So chances are it’ll happen.
It wouldn’t be so bad if the ads were positioned well away from the copy. But then people wouldn’t deliberately or accidentally move over them.
Which is more important? Advertising? Or the news at hand?
(Don’t answer that
)
And Oh Yes, both newspapers are owned by CanWest Global Communications Corp.
