Made Worse in Canada: The Video

p2pnet news view P2P: | Politics:- Ottawa law professor Dr Michael Geist continues to steam full speed ahead with his awesome 61 Reforms to C-61, as the DMCA-like copyright ‘revision’ is officially known.

Federal industry misminister Jim Prentice earnestly hopes the bill will please his corporate supporters.

You, the people who put him into power? You’re chopped liver.

But thanks to the Net, you have a voice with which to force him, and the others like him, to pay attention.

Now, here’s a new opportunity to use it.

Loudly.

In support of 61 Reforms, the Fair Copyright for Canada Facebook group has launched 61 seconds,  a national video competition to give Canadians the chance to tell it like it is via YouTube.

Here’s one submission, appropriately called Made Worse in Canada – The Video Version »»»

What should the video discuss?
This is also completely open. You can discuss the issue that most concerns you about Bill C-61, suggest changes, educate others about the bill, or simply entertain.

When can I submit my video?
The competition is now open. Submissions will be accepted until September 1st.

When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced on September 15th, the date that Members of Parliament are scheduled to return to work in Ottawa.

Who judges the videos?
The C-61 in Seconds competition has a great group of judges including Barenaked Ladies singer Steven Page, Ontario Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian, Open Source Cinema’s Brett Gaylor, Galacticast’s Rudy Jahchan, and Film Studies Association of Canada Marc Furstenau.

If you want, ask Michael Geist here, for example:

    http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/3326/125/

but the competition was opened for two months now, and it is unfortunate that we only have ten submissions.

  3. Power To The People Says:

My wife and I voted Conservative because we honestly believed they would bring about the copyright reform that is so very needed in Canada. Talk about making a huge mistake. We will NOT be voting Conservative again.

The question is very simple. As an duly elected government official of Canada, should your role be to represent the Canadian people and what they want, or do you choose to represent the corporate interests of the United States of America instead? The difference is like night and day, thus it is not possible to do both. By their actions, it has become clear what the Conservative’s answer is to this question, therefore it should not come as no surprise when they find themselves voted out. Goodbye and good riddance I say!
