As I mentioned yesterday, I’m off to Vancouver for the summary trial of Wayne Crooke’s defamation allegation against me.
This is a big deal.
Well-known media lawyer Dan Burnett is arguing against, “what amounts to a bid to freeze freedom of speech online”.
In it, “Vancouver businessman Wayne Crookes has sued Google.com, Wikipedia.com, Pbwiki.com, Yahoo.com, MySpace.com, Openpolitics.ca, Domains by Proxy, Mike Pilling, Hayley Easto, Kate Holloway, Craig Hubley, Warren De Simone (case dismissed), Frank Cameron, Catharine Johannson, Gareth White and various anonymous persons,” I posted on Thursday.
And me.
My particular case will result in what could potentially be a landmark ruling on whether or not hyper-linking constitutes actual publication, with all that implies, and I’ll tell you how it goes when I get back to Vancouver Island.
There’s a chance a decision will be made today, but Dan tells me the judge will probably reserve it and release it a few weeks, or even months, later.
For now, I had several calls and emails, yesterday, asking if I survived the earthquakes on Vancouver Island.
You know what? I didn’t even know about them. Honest.

There were like 20 small quakes of the coast of Port Hardy to the west. I didnt feel any either.
