Jerry Reed dies, aged 71

p2pnet news view | Music:- “I often wondered what I would write on my site when this sad day came,” says jerryreed.onlyhere.net, going on:

“Now the day is here and I still don’t really know.

“I thank God I got to know Jerry just a little bit but even more I thank God that Jerry had a personal relationship with Christ. Take care of him Lord, he’ll sure be missed. May the Lord continue to bless Jerry’s wife Prissy and their fine family.”

An amazing country guitar picker, singer and actor, Jerry Reed Hubbard died on Monday from emphysema, aged 71.

He’d established himself, “as one of the most sought-after guitarists in Nashville, a songwriter who wrote hits for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Brenda Lee and many others,” says the Los Angeles Times. “He became a regular presence on the pop and country charts in the ’70s and ’80s with humorous hits including ‘When You’re Hot, You’re Hot,’ ‘Amos Moses,’ ‘East Bound and Down’ and ‘She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)’.”

Earlier this year he released “The Gallant Few,” songs he wrote about wounded war veterans, “an outgrowth of what he described as his mission in recent years to help ensure that they would not be forgotten,” says the story, adding:

“In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the website for his latest release, thegallantfew.com. Proceeds go to Amvets.”
