However, it’s now he confirmed that she will indeed launch this year’s MTV VMA ceremony with something “fun and unexpected”.

“I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated,” the BBC has her saying,

After reports that she was to appear on the show, her manager last month said it wasn’t going to happen.

But there’s apparently been a change of heart and this time around, she’s been nominated for three VMAs including best video for Piece of Me.

“Other performers confirmed for Sunday’s show – presented by UK comedian Russell Brand – include Rihanna, Kid Rock and the Jonas Brothers,” says the story, quoting MTV president Van Toffler as saying he’d been talking to Michael Jackson about a possible appearance but, “I don’t know if that’s going to happen.”
