Old Jimi Hendrix guitar fetches $497,557
p2pnet news view | Music:- A tatty, battered old guitar which’d been set on fire 43 years ago has netted almost half-a-million dollars.
That’s because it once belonged to Jimi Hendrix.
In March, 1967, at the end of a concert in England, “Hendrix produced a bottle of lighter fuel, squirted it over his Fender Stratocaster and put a match to it,” says The Telegraph.
And, “For the next 40 years, the charred guitar sat in a garage in Hove of the parents of his former publicist”.
But this week it was bought for £280,000, “by a 51-year-old rock memorabilia collector called Daniel Boucher,” says the story.
Even at that, it didn’t reach the expected price.
“The Fame Bureau, the British specialist auction house, said the scorched guitar was found last year at the home of a relative of Tony Garland, Hendrix`s former press officer,” says the Boston Herald.
“It had been predicted to sell for up to $900,000.”

good to see a proper way for people to waste money when the earth is boiling away and people starve or can’t get health care
