Elizabeth May credits People 2 People Power
p2pnet news view Politics | P2P:- “The Net can make the difference.”
That was the last sentence in yesterday’s p2pnet story on efforts by the three principle federal parties to exclude the Greens from the upcoming televised election debates.
After a huge public outcry, the Broadcasting Consortium, comprising TV executives from the five main networks who’d caved in to ‘No Green Party’ demands from the Conservatives and New Democrats, were forced to shamefacedly back down, opening the doors to Green Party leader Elizabeth May.
But it wasn’t citizen outrage aimed at the mainstream media which turned the tide for May.
How much was down to ‘letters to the editor’ or phone calls to radio and TV stations May couldn’t guess, she told p2pnet, but, “my estimate is that at least 75% was due to internet,” she declared, “and it might be 95% for all I know!”
It was People to People Power —- “100% citizen action!!!”
How does May feel?
This great pic from The Toronto Star’s Tim Krochak says it all.
Are you paying attention, Harper, Layton and Dion?
