Mile High online porn on American Airlines
p2pnet news view | Freedom:- As the Net increasingly becomes a normal part of airline communications, might a new kind of Mile High club come into being?
“American Airlines flight attendants are urging the world’s largest carrier to filter its in-flight Internet service to block access to pornography and other Web sites the workers said were inappropriate,” says Bloomberg News.
It’s a, “tricky door to open,” the story has Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy and Information Center in Washington, , saying, going on
“Where do you draw the line once you start policing the information your customers can access?”
But the, “vast majority” of travelers use “good judgment in what they look at,” the story has AA spokesman Tim Smith”stating, adding
“Customers viewing inappropriate material on board a flight is not a new scenario for our crews, who have always managed this issue with great success.
The mile high club (or MHC), “is a slang term collectively applied to individuals who have engaged in sexual activity while on board an aircraft in flight at least 1 mile (5,280 ft/1,609 m AGL) above the Earth,” explains the Wikipedia.
“There is no known formally constituted club so named. However, since ‘membership’ of the ‘club’ is really a matter of an individual asserting they have qualified, the qualifications for membership are open to some interpretation.”
Association of Professional Flight Attendants spokesman David Roscow says the union has received, “a lot of complaints from flight attendants and passengers” and the issue has now been brought to the attention of American Airlines, “although without a formal request for online filters at this time,” says The Tech Herald, adding:
“Should it choose to react to the concerns of its staff and customers by applying a filtering system, American could well find itself mired in censorship accusations, not least because using the carrier`s in-flight online access costs $12.95 USD per passenger.”
