iTunes vs mycokemusic.com

p2pnet.net News:- Apple’s claims that iTunes is THE one in Europe is annoying Coca Cola, which launched a music download site in Britain in January, making it the first ‘consumer brand’ to do so.

It kicked off with 250,000 Big Music tracks at 99p (about $1.80 at today’s rates) per track on average.

Apple, which has just hit Europe, has 700,000 songs on iTunes at 79p per (about $1.45) on average.

That’s 250,000 to 700,000 of files against the literally billions available on p2p networks.

Anyway, the Coke site attracted more than 2.5 million visitors in the last two months and has sold 500,000 songs, says a BBC story here, quoting Coca Cola spokesman Rafael McDonnell as saying, "Research showed us that downloading music was going be a huge change in the way that consumers access music and we were ahead of the curve with the introduction of Mycokemusic.com."

Sony’s Connect service is expected in Europe next month.
