School entry applications — by video
p2pnet news view | Cool:- Steve Metzman has a very cool application with potential well beyond its stated purposes.
He’s offering an online service aimed at providing college admissions professionals with an easy means of getting a closer look at applicants.

And at the same time, they give applicants a way to, “personally present themselves to admissions professionals regardless of financial resources,” as he puts it.
“Studies have shown that while the number of college applicants is drastically increasing from year to year, many of the country’s schools are not increasing the size of their entering classes, and the most selective are accepting as few as 9% of their applicants,” he says.
Only students who could afford to travel to campuses could present themselves to admissions officers, Metzman states.
But with his service, “any student can personally present him or herself and demonstrate the real person behind the GPA, test scores, and essays.”
The system is free to students and admissions officers, doesn’t require additional software, and can be integrated into any admissions technology platform, Metzman promises.

This is stupid.. just like adding pictures to CV’s, it gives the schools and employers an easy way to discriminate and push agendas.
