p2pnet teaser headlines
p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- Hi everyone:
Since p2pnet was launched, I’ve always had teasers under the main headlines.
But for the last little while, WordPress has been refusing to allow them and I end up with blanks underneath the headlines, so I’ve discontinued them for the time being.
Or maybe forever.
What are your thoughts, folks?
Do they add anything?
Are they even necessary?
Cheers! And thanks …
Jon

i agree.
also can you fix the thing where entries dissappear into a void for like a week or so after they leave the main page?

We haven’t had any luck in tracking down the cause of either, but we’re still trying.
Cheers!

Teaser headlines add character! Not only do they help a story become more interesting to read, but they add character to the p2pnet site in general. Why would you willingly give that up. It seems to me that Word Press has become more of a problem than a solution to you when you think back about all the troubles it’s caused. Maybe find a new app that’ll let you do what you do the way you want to without all the hassles?…Is that even possible? ?:|

I didn’t give them up. For a while now they’d been freezing (it’d become a daily occurrence) and I was waiting for sometimes three or four minutes at a time for them to ‘take’ before I could post a story. And then they wouldn’t post at all, leaving big holes under the heads.
p2pnet doesn’t have a crew of techs spending their days fixing problems and creating updates. Bob, a very busy guy in the US, does this for free whenever he can find the time and although he’s tried to replicate the problem so he can fix it, he hasn’t been able to. So if anyone with WordPress expertise has any ideas, Bob and I would appreciate the input.
“Maybe find a new app that’ll let you do what you do the way you want to without all the hassles?…Is that even possible? ?”
I have fewer hassles with this than with previous CMS apps. Meanwhile, as I say here, “p2pnet isn’t entrepreneurial: it isn’t a business venture. Corny as it may seen, p2pnet is a commitment”. In other words, it’s a one-man deal with zero resources for that kind of thing.
But hopefully, the teasers will be back soon and until then ……
Cheers! And thanks …

What I would really like is a thing like you see in a lot of web forums where, when you hover over the link to a given thread (in this case, a story) you can preview the first few lines of it. Sometimes the headlines aren’t very clear and I probably skip good stuff just because it looks like something I wouldn’t be interested in.

^^ That WOULD be good. I’ll see what I can find.
Cheers!

Another thing you see in a lot of places is a link of some sort to enable the e-mailing an article to someone.
