iPhone Smule, lighting up the world
p2pnet news view | Cool:- Apple iPhone owners are all lit up.
But you knew that already. heh
Anyhow, there’s a virile viral thingy out there called Smule’s virtual sonic lighter.
“Give your friend a light,” it says. “Watch the flame dance to your breath. Spread your light around the world.”
TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington is not, however, impressed.
There are, he says, “no less than ten different virtual lighter apps in iTunes, which is what I’d call a saturated market. And it gets better, because Sonic Lighter costs $.99. The official Zippo iphone app is free.”
What do they do? You have a virtual lighter, “you light it and when you move the iPhone the flame moves around”.
Oh.
But wait!
It is, in fact, rather cool both as an application and as a way to milk all those wealthy iTune/iPhone folks out of yet another $1.
Each.
“You can optionally share your location information with the application, and when you light it you show up on a virtual earth-like globe,” says Arrington, going on that France and Japan are going absolutely crazy with users (right).
“The longer a person keeps the lighter going (I have mine sitting here burning while I write this), the more ‘KiloJoules’ you burn,” he says.
“And that helps contribute to the geographical teams that are sprouting up and trying to be the brightest on the globe. Oh, and you can blow on the microphone and extinguish the flame.”
Neat. A Smule and his money are soon lighted.
Meanwhile, it’s a demonstration app for a new audio programming language called ChucK, says TechCrunch.
