Cruise and Valkyrie trailer ripe for the picking

p2pnet news view | Movies:- “I serve my country, but I HAVE betrayed my conscience,” intones Tom Cruise in the final, final [HD quality] YouTube Valkyrie (or Valcurry, as Tom would have it) trailer.

With sound of clocks ticking and hearts beating (OK, one heart and one clock) in the background, leading Cult of Scientology propagandist von Cruise stars as Colonel Claus Philipp Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, who led the 1944 plot to rid the world of Hitler.

“It’s bound to be rubbish,” Der Spiegel has 72-year-old Berthold von Stauffenberg, now a retired German army officer and the oldest of Claus von Stauffenberg’s five children, saying in a Süddeutsche Zeitung interview.

It isn’t often a trailer gives an indication of how just really terrible the movie it’s publicising is likely to be, but this is one of the rare exceptions.

“It is unpleasant for me that an avowed Scientologist will be playing my father,” von Stauffenberg junior says, adding, “I fear that only terrible kitsch will come out of the project.”

On that note, spoofers and lampooners should have a field day with the trailer.

Or maybe it’s perfect just as it is.

You be the judge. ;)

Actually, the trailer looks great to me. I have no use for Scientology either but I don’t feel a need to attack every movie Cruise makes just because of that. “Lions for Lambs” was a real stinker, but I think “Valkyrie” will be great, or at least good.

I feel the same. The trailer looks interesting. I’m no fan of cruise, but people are just attacking him and his films for no good reason. Perhaps it makes them feel better about themselves in someway; quite sad when you think about it.

Wow! I wasn’t going to see the movie until you posted the trailer! Now I want to see it!

    heh

    Meanwhile - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2008/08/17/sv_hitler.xml

    Cheers!

I won’t be seeing it. The trailer makes me cringe and wee Tom is a crappy actor with a limited range. He uses the same facial expression for every character he plays.

Like Pauline Kael said about someone’s emotional acting range: They run the gamut from a-b.
Man is he asking for it!

  6. Anonymous Says:

Hey! Where is the link to the trailer?

  7. Reader's Write Says:

The trailer IS ON THE PAGE! duh
