UK Secret Service camera sold on eBay

p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- Dearie me. M16, 007 James Bond’s former UK Secret Service employers, caught using Facebook as a spy recruiting agency, now has another online problem.

This time a camera supposedly holding sensitive records of MI6 terror suspects reportedly showed up on eBay.

As Britain’s secret service, SIS provides the British Government with a global covert capability to promote and defend the national security and economic well-being of the United Kingdom,”  says it official site.

But sadly, “A 28-year-old man from Hertfordshire bought the Nixon Cool Pix camera for £17 [abnout C$33] on the online auction website before going on holiday to the US,”says The Guardian, going on:

“When the new owner, a delivery driver from Hemel Hempstead, went to download his holiday pictures he found photos of terror suspects, along with their names, fingerprints and images of launchers and missiles.”

Names, snaps, fingerprints and suspects’ academic records were found in the memory of the digital device, says The Sun, which also says when UK police were told, they initially thought it was a joke.

But it wasn’t and, “Alongside them were photos of rocket launchers and missiles which spooks believe Iran is supplying to Osama Bin Laden’s henchmen in Iraq,” says the story, adding »»»

And a hand-drawn graphic revealed links between active al-Qaeda cells — with terrorists’ names and occupations.

Meanwhile a document marked “top secret” detailed the encrypted computer system used by real-life James Bonds working away from MI6’s London HQ.

Among those named in the material was 46-year-old Abdul al-Hadi al-Iraqi, who was captured by the CIA in 2007.

The fanatical Iraqi Kurd, one of al-Qaeda’s highest-ranking lieutenants, is being held by the US at Guantanamo Bay.

Hertfordshire police said when they are looking into things, states The Guardian.

“We can confirm we seized a camera after a member of the public reported it,” a statement said. “Intelligence officers are investigating.”
