Ray Charles Memorial
p2pnet.net News Opinion:- Ray Charles is dead and now the World of Music and attachments are wallowing in it.
Nobody wants to be left out, ie: “Heaven wanted some music and God sent for Ray Charles … Ray, we can’t stop loving you – we choose not to – and we’ll see you in the morning,” from civil rights leader Jessie Jackson.
Anyhow, it’s a sure thing Big Music will be making hay too, raking it in on Ray Charles copyrights, and so on. You can also confidently expect a whole slew of Best of Ray Charles, Remembering Ray Charles and Ray’s Greatest Hits.
But wouldn’t it be nice if Big Music did something nice for a change – if the Ray Charles label, Warner Bros, pegged all of the money from its Charles ‘earnings’ from the date of his passing to something such as Phish’s Mockingbird Foundation, a non-profit organization founded and run by Phish fans that supports music education for children?
Now THAT would be a fitting memorial, and one that would ensure he’ll never be forgotten.
If you think that, or something like it, would be a good idea, start emailing Warner Bros. And if you have better ideas, tell us and we’ll do a post on the subject.

The Mockingbird Foundation is not “Phish’s” – as you note in the same sentence, it belons to (and emerges from) Phish fans.
More importantly, those words are linked to phish.com instead of mbird.org – quite odd!

Quite right. I was on the Phish news site (phish.net) site and and it was a slip of the fingers. Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out.
