Harper unveils economic plan on YouTube
p2pnet news view | P2P | Politics:- Canadian Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper tried to use the recent TV debates to score points not by detailing his plans for Canada from the point of view of Canadians, but to destroy the credibility of the other party leaders, Elizabeth May (Greens), Jack Layton (NDP) and Gilles Duceppe (Bloc) with, predictably, Stephane Dion bearing the initial brunt of the attack.
But with May leading the charge, the four zeroed in on the fact that, with a serious national economic crisis predicted in the wake of the US recession, Harper had failed to come up with an economic plan.
Now, however, he’s pulled himself up by his bootlaces, turning to the Net via YouTube to issue a stirring outline of his vision for dealing with the looming emergency.
“Stephen Harper is set to release that document Tuesday in Toronto,” says City News.
“It’s very unusual for a candidate or party to wait this long before telling voters exactly what they’re voting for.
“He told a crowd in Quebec his plan, called ‘The True North Strong and Free,’ will help Canadian families and will focus on economic stability.”
With a piano tinkling in the background, and sitting comfortably in an armchair, “There’s no more exciting place for me as a Canadian than to go North,” Harper says in a YouTube video entitled, appropriately, The True North Strong and Free.
in it, he says »»»
We’ve got real sovereignty and security challenges up there — we’ve got some environmental and social issues to deal with as well. But look: this is, ah, this is our frontier, this is what has defined us as Canadians, and, ah, we’re determined as a government that we’re going to make this country genuinely the true North strong and free.
The video closes with the rising chords of a full orchestra.
And you thought Harper didn’t have a plan.

Hey Jon,
If you post more harper clown skool antics, think you can add a shiney red nose to his face?
Maybe some strings attatched to his arms being pulled by Bush (or maybe show him receiving gifts for policies that he doesn’t want to declare?)?
This harper guy is king of clown skool.

Did his speech plagiarize any other youtube vids???

Maybe he was renting the Plan from Australia and it only just arrived.
I heard a rumor that his next speech is ‘borrowed’ from the Kiwis.

Anyone who is unsure where their vote should go can watch this, it’s based on Mel Hurtig’s best seller. “The Truth About Canada”.

Hysterical : )

Funny how Harper said so much yet said nothing at all. Really, nothing he said actually means anything - what they’ll ‘do’ is entirely avoided. Adding some stupid phrase won’t change the fact that it’s /his/ definition of true north strong and free that matters, not ours.

Thats because he isn’t the one actually calling the shots.
Does that youtube vid portray a leader to you?

Why doesn’t someone propose something like the economic plan on the site below? We need to do more than waste money on bailouts that don’t work and attempts at a quick fix.

“Does that youtube vid portray a leader to you?”
What I noticed during the English Language Debate was that Harper kept looking down at he table when he talked, rather than look anyone in the eye.
He doesn’t even believe what he is saying himself.
