DeGeneres gay marriage video online
p2pnet news view TV | P2P | Politics:- If you’re an Arrested Development fan, you’ll recogise the name Lindsay Bluth Fünke, played by Australian actress Portia de Rossi.
You’ll also know of Ellen DeGeneres, the dead-pan comedienne who stars in her own TV show.
The two of them live in California where gay marriages were legalised in May and they were married in August under the new law.
Enter Proposition 8, an “initiative” on the 2008 California General Election ballot entitled “Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry”.
If passed, says the Wikipedia, it would, “change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California. A new section would be added stating ‘only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California’.”
With that in mind, DeGeneres has gone online with a video she created to have Proposition 8 shot down.
She’s been criticised in the gay press for not giving money to the campaign to defeat the move to ban it, “or otherwise lending her star presence to the cause,” says Metro UK, adding:
“She still hasn’t made a campaign contribution, but she has posted a video on her show’s website, saying the day she got married was the happiest day of her life.
“Ellen’s mother, Betty, has given $700 to help defeat the initiative.”
