Thanks, KPLU’s Jazz24
p2pnet news view Music | Freedom:- On Thursday I was in Vancouver being grilled by a lawyer representing Nikki Hemming, the woman who runs Australia’s Sharman Networks and who claims a story I ran in p2pnet and comment post beneath it defamed her.
I say they’re no more than examples of freedom of speech, freedom of expression and as I write this, I’m listening to Water Boy by Don Shirley. Before that, I was grooving to Weather Report by Birdland.
I know both tracks well, but on this occasion they came courtesy of Jazz24, a free, 24-hour, no-commercials, online music streaming service from NPR radio station KPLU.
What has the one to do with the other?
The day after my interrogation was a real downer, to put it mildly. I’d been subjected to an experience I wouldn’t have tolerated under any other circumstance and instead of posting as usual, I had to spend most of the time scouring old emails at the behest of Hemming’s lawyer, and when I booted up, I was thoroughly bummed out.
My practice when I get going in morning is to check for hand-delivered spam and read through the most recent comment posts. Then I open Jazz24 from KPLU 88.5 FM.
I did the same yesterday and the music immediately soothed my soul.
As I said earlier, I virtually tune in just about every day and this is to thank KPLU and its DJs not only for lifting my spirits yesterday, but for providing ear candy whenever I need it.
Excellent stuff and as far as I’m concerned, this, too, is an essential and integral part of online freedom of expression.
So thanks to everyone at KLPU.
