France close to 3-strikes anti-piracy plan
p2pnet news view | P2P | Politics:- The importance of a French “regulation of the digital environment” and support for an “Internet and creation” law, which would include a three strikes and you lose your Net account rule, will be discussed from October 29 by the French senate.
But, “Of course, there is no secret plan to impose the French anti-piracy plan to the rest of Europe,” promises French culture minister Christine Albanel, defending the proposals.
“I simply wish that our experience will prove an inspiration for other European states whose cultural businesses are as threatened as the French ones,” Billboard has her saying.
Of the three strikes proposal, it, “won’t be the law of the majors, it will be the law of all creators and of all the cultural industries”.
Her statements came during the October 23/24 European Independence Arena which, “gathered politicians and European Commission officials as well as professionals from the music, cinema and books sectors in Paris to debate the position of independent companies”.
The meeting was co-organized by the French ministry of culture and European record labels body Impala, says the story, adding:
“Among the other points listed in the final declaration were that European independents expect a ’specific status to independent cultural small and medium enterprises (SMEs), endorsed at the European level. SMEs should be granted specific support and benefit from positive discrimination measures’.”

What about corporate three strikes rule – you send three frivolous copyright infringement notices, and your Internet connection is cut, for a month, for example?
October 30th, 2008 at 6:36 am
how about we actually hot that CEO of said corporation with a bat for 3 bad copyright attacks.
OH and culture should not be an industry, it should be free like open source software , ocntributed ot by those WHOM wish to contributenot get and gouge and be greedy. This is what got the USA and world in general int he financial mess its in. Until we the people really wake up and say ENOUGH of the GREED, then its over do not pass go do not get innovation, society cannot reap any benefit from anyhtingin there lifetime and now you would deny them communications ability in an age when it should be a right not just some priviledge that the absolute rich can afford.
