Experience the Great FireWall of China
p2pnet news view | P2P | Politics:- Want to know what life is like in censorship China?
No problem.
Aram Bartholl, Evan Roth and Tobias Leingruber can show you.
Their China Channel Firefox Add-on, based on Jeremy Gillick’s Switch Proxy, allows you to experience vicariously what people in China suffer every day, 24/7.
But unlike you, they don’t have a choice.
“Take an unforgetable virtual trip to China and experience the technical expertise of the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (supported by western companies),” say the three.
“It’s open source, free and easy.”
They also note this isn’t the first time someone has tried to dramatically point up how things are behind the Great Firewall of China.
“Our intention with the China Channel add-on was simply to help lower the technical barrier to surfing the Chinese internet,” they say, adding:
There are several projects done previously that have done a great deal in relation to internet filtering or the Chinese Firewall issue e.g.:
- The Great Firewall of China
- Insert Coin (Secret university proxy server)
- k0a1a.net Redbox (Stand-alone filter-bomb)
For people that are interested in dealing with the much more serious issue of reaching the non-Chinese internet from within China please see
- CCC – China – Privacy Emergency Response Team
- picidae.org
- internetfreebeijing.com
Excellent.

China firewall is lame â use Freedur.com to bypass it. You can bypass China Great Firewall and access youtube.com and all other sites which are blocked.
